Chimney Install For A Hot Pressure Washer In Lichfield
What they needed
We were asked to resolve an exhaust issue for a company in Lichfield using a Nilfisk Truck Booster hot pressure washer to clean their lorries. The machine is installed inside a container unit and is used regularly for fleet washing.
Originally, the boiler exhaust was vented directly out of the rear of the container, which was sufficient at first. However, as site operations changed, lorries began parking behind the container — causing exhaust smoke to blow directly onto trailers during hot water use.
Problem / Requirement
- Existing setup: Nilfisk Truck Booster located inside a container, flued directly out of the rear wall.
- Main issue: When using hot water, boiler exhaust smoke was venting onto parked lorry trailers.
- Operational change: Lorries were now being parked directly behind the container.
- Risk: Smoke residue on clean trailers and poor exhaust management.
The system itself was working correctly, but the flue arrangement no longer suited the updated site layout
Our Solution
- Supplied and installed a new external stainless steel flue system.
- Redirected boiler exhaust vertically above roof height to disperse safely into open air.
- Removed the previous rear-facing exhaust outlet configuration.
- Secured and sealed the flue system to ensure safe, compliant operation during hot water use.
- Tested the system under load to confirm proper exhaust draw and performance.
The Result
- Boiler exhaust is now safely vented above roof level.
- No smoke is discharged onto parked trailers.
- Hot water cleaning can be used without affecting surrounding vehicles.
- The container installation remains compact and efficient while complying with safe exhaust practice.
- The customer can continue washing their lorry fleet without operational disruption.
